Grades and Standards for Trees

Board Room
This class will provide an overview of the recently revised Florida Grades and Standards for Nursery Stock which is a State of Florida regulatory document designed to provide minimum quality standards for landscape plant material. The rationale for this class is that adherence to quality standards followed up with maintenance best practices is a key step in the quest to build sustainability into Florida’s urban forest. The Florida Grades and Standards is referenced in most Florida county and municipal codes and has tremendous application for growers, buyers, installers, inspectors and consumers. The class will feature a combination of lecture, group discussion using a Powerpoint presentation, plus hands-on grading of real tree specimens outdoors.
