Have a small yard filled with non-native plants? Eager to cut down on the use of chemicals and water in your landscape? Wondering how to begin to transform it to This workshop will help you get started on your own personal sustainable landscape transformation project. Learn how to think about your property’s potential for ecological function and different strategies for transforming your property into a resilient, working ecosystem that supports birds, pollinators and you.
This is a basic session oriented to the home gardener, using insights from ecology, gardening and art to motivate change in home landscape design and maintenance. The instructor uses a formal presentation, based on her popular book by the same title, available for purchase at the show, and a hands-on workshop format. Attendees will work with a sample layout and grid system for a basic native landscape, using a 1/3 acre lot example.
Bring photos of your landscape, a full plan drawing if you have one or just a birds-eye view quick sketch. You can use these in the workshop and when asking questions of the instructor and nursery and landscape professionals exhibiting at the show.
